Hitting the right note: Best musical moments in TV

Tonight How I Met Your Mother will celebrate it's 100th episode with at least one full musical number. It promises to be a hit with professional song and dance man Neil Patrick Harris rounding out the talented cast.

The show has already dipped into the genre on several occasions while exploring Robin's past as Canadian teen pop star Robin Sparkles. Jason Segal has also had a few chances to express himself via song including a very moving ode to slaps.



In honour of this very special musical episode of How I Met Your Mother both Slate and TWOP have composed lists of some great musical television moments.

This Week in TV News

I know, I've been seriously slacking with the news updates, I had to shift
my priorities to finishing up exams for this year.

Here are a few tidbits from the TV new this week:

Glee delivered a fall finale that was all we hoped this show could be last Wednesday. Now we're left in a lurch with new episodes not resuming until April 2010! There may be good news in this cloud of a 4 month hiatus, there is talk that FOX will be producing original Glee material to fill the gap in the from of clips and music video.

New TV coming to NBC this January isn't too far off, NBC has released it's mid-season schedule, including the highly anticipating return of Chuck on Mondays at 8pm. Conspicuously missing from its Monday time slot is Heroes. No word yet on the show's uncertain future.

Awards shows seem to be on their way up starting with Neil Patrick Harris hosting the 2009 Emmys. Ricky Gervais, the man who took both British and American comedy TV by storm will be hosting this year's Golden Globes. Well picked hosts must really increase viewership because I will certainly be tuning in. Check out what Gervais has to say about his hosting duties in an interview with Daniel Manu from TWOP.com. In film news, Natalie Portman will be staring in the film adaptation of Pride, Prejudice and Zombies. Maybe zombie movies have over saturated the market in the past few years, but that hasn't stopped my obsession. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the film version of this new spin on the genre.

Eliza Dushku interview on TWOP about Dollhouse

Gearing up for episode 2, of Dollhouse's new season TWOP's Zach Oat talks to star Eliza Dushku about this season of Dollhouse.

Dushku divulges some info about what's happening as Echo evolves and what's in store for the rest of the Dollhouse crew including the highly anticipated appearance of Summer Glau (Firefly, Sarah Connor Chronicles) as a programmer from another Dollhouse. Dushku talks about what it's like working with Glau after Dollhouse beat out Sarah Connor Chronicles for the last spot in the line up.

Those BSGers Really Get Around - Dualla is back in "Children of the Corn"

First we've got Jamie Bamber running around spreading his sexy all over Law & Order: UK, then hitting us again with a guest star spot on the season premiere of Dollhouse alongside Tehmoh Penikett.

Now we're hit with another shot of BSG awesome as Dualla (Kandyse McClure) stars in a SyFy remake of Steven King's "Children of the Corn".


When I first glanced at this TWOP article I completely goofed, seeing the name Dualla and Anders used in the same sentence I came to the very logical conclusion that Michael Trucco would also be starring. Then I actually *read* the article and felt a bit cheated.

Joss Whedon interview on TWOP: Dollhouse

TWOP's Zach Oat interviews Joss Whedon about Dollhouse, the past season, the present and the future. Joss discusses the changing nature of the television industry, working with his favourite actors, and how much he loves his fans (of whom he all expects to buy a DVD, then some for their friends...)
